As this project progresses, monthly project status updates will be posted here. Previous monthly updates will also remain available on the project website, and may be found at the bottom of this page. Please check back regularly for project status updates.
June 2009 Project Update
Construction on the new bridge continues to move forward. The construction of pile foundation supports, setting of support beams for the bridge, and the final riding surface is now complete. Construction continues on the asphalt portions of the bridge approaches, and traffic will be moved on to the new bridge in the near future.
Traffic shifts/detours will begin within a few weeks and continue over the next several months until all work is completed and the new bridge is in full service.
Construction adjacent to the existing bridge and in the waterway can be expected to continue. For safety reasons, there will be short time periods when the channel will be closed to marine traffic. The channel continues to remain open during weekends.
